“Druka” is more than a name. It honours our Samogitian roots and the tradition of the printed word. Inspired by the Samogitian dialect word “druka” (meaning “printed letter”), which was suggested by his mother, the owner chose it as a fitting name for his company, symbolising a connection between the past and the modern future of printing.
DRUKA Printing Company was founded in 1992 by Algirdas Apulskis, who, after leaving his role as chief engineer at the renowned Rytas printing house in Klaipėda, made the bold decision to start his own business. He rented a 34 square-metre space and purchased some printing equipment. The printing company grew rapidly, leading to the hiring of more staff and the acquisition of additional equipment over time.
DRUKA has always moved in lockstep with innovation. In 2017, the printing company enhanced its capabilities with the purchase of a laser cutter (the only one of its kind in the Baltics!) and a box folder-gluer. The increasing emphasis on quality, sustainability, and efficiency led to the acquisition of a new Heidelberg CX 104 five-colour press in 2022. This technology has enhanced print quality, reduced costs, and boosted energy efficiency.
„In business, I’m driven by processes, communication with people, and steady growth,” says Apulskis. His company now operates from a 2,000 square-metre facility.
